Memorial: On October 24th, 2019, a service celebrating the life of Afya Abongo Otieno was held, as she held a special place in the history of the Church of Belief Science. She was the first female member of the First Assembly of the Church of Belief Science in Kenya, Africa. She died on October 1st, 2019 at the age of 80 years old. She was an inspiration, as she showed strength and courage to join a new church at a time when there was much conflict among religions in Kenya. The Church stands with her family in celebrating her life and legacy. She was named an “EXEMPLAR” of the Church on Dec. 17, 2019. Exemplars are members of the Church who show distinction as representatives of Church doctrine.
