In most modern economies, there are many possible coalitions of interested groups and the diversity of possible unilateral barriers is important. In addition, some trade barriers are created for other non-economic reasons, such as national security or the desire to protect or isolate local culture from foreign influences. It is therefore not surprising that successful trade agreements are very complicated. Some commonalities of trade agreements are (1) reciprocity, (2) a clause of the most favoured nation (MFN) and (3) the use of non-tariff barriers. The world has achieved almost more free trade in the next round, known as the Doha Round Trade Agreement. If successful, Doha would have reduced tariffs for all WTO members overall. A common market is a kind of trade agreement in which members remove internal trade barriers, adopt common policies on relations with non-members and allow members to move resources freely among themselves. The failure of Doha has enabled China to reach a global level of trade. It has signed bilateral trade agreements with dozens of countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Chinese companies have the right to develop the country`s oil and other raw materials. In exchange, China offers loans and technical or commercial assistance. The resulting level of economic integration depends on the specific nature of the trade pacts and policies adopted by the trade bloc: depending on the conditions and concessions agreed by the relevant authorities, there are different types of trade agreements – the framework agreement first defines the scope and provisions of the potential agreement between trading partners.
It foresees a new field of discussion and sets the period for future liberalisation. India has already signed framework agreements with ASEAN, Japan, etc. Trade agreements open many doors. With access to new markets, competition intensifies. Increasing competition is forcing companies to produce better quality products. It also leads to greater diversity for consumers. If there are a variety of high quality products, companies can improve customer satisfaction. It exists when two or more countries agree on conditions that help them trade with each other. The most frequent trade agreements are preferential and free trade regimes to reduce (or remove) tariffs, quotas and other trade restrictions imposed on intermediaries.
